Field Scheduling at County Farm

Coaches – Steve Huckabee previously served as the “scheduler” for all games and practices at the County Farm Soccer Fields (for all teams and organizations).  We have had a centralized scheduler for this facility for years now and have found that this makes it convenient for those using the fields and assists with the predictability of knowing you and/or your team will have a field to play or practice on before driving out to the complex.  With Steve’s retirement from the Board, Jeff Bruni will be serving as interim scheduler for all practices and games at the County Farm Soccer Fields (for all organizations).  Please e-mail Jeff to request field times and assignments at County Farm.  Jeff will be assigning field space to teams on a first come, first served basis now through early October 2015.  The practice/game field assignments will be revised in early October 2015 so that recreational teams will be given priority for their practices and games for the recreational season (from October 2015 through March 2016).  Also, please note that field space under lights at County Farm is limited and that practices and games will only be scheduled and permitted on fields that are open by the County. At this point, not all fields at County Farm are open and field space will be limited due to ongoing maintenance of various fields there from now through September.  Please e-mail all field scheduling requests to Jeff at and put in the “subject heading” for the e-mail “CF FIELD REQUEST – (identity of team – e.g., “SMSC U-12 Boys Team ____,” etc.).”  This will assist in tracking field assignments.  Thank you!

Letter of Support for Soccer along the Gulf Coast

As you are aware, there have been many attempts over the years to improve and increase the soccer facilities in Gulfport for soccer and its ever growing community all up and down the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  South of the Sportsplex is a parcel of land that is privately owned.  The city is working with this developer to encourage the development of this parcel.  The developer is willing to donate lands to build a dedicated soccer complex.  As part of this effort, the developer would have to obtain a permit from the Corps of Engineers.  The Corps of Engineers is presently undergoing a public comment period wherein folks can comment on the property developer’s permit application with the Corps to mitigate certain wetlands in connection with the project.  Our Mississippi Coast is needing letters of support from our soccer community to help encourage this.

Would you mind signing and mailing the attached letter to the US Army Corps of Engineers to show your support? We would appreciate your help.

Thanks to ALL that attended select soccer tryouts

Thanks to everyone who attended try outs for select teams this past week!  Thanks also to all who volunteered and assisted at try outs!  Despite the weather on Monday (May 18), we had a record number of attendees!  If anyone was unable to attend try outs due to the weather on May 18 or otherwise, please contact Jason Rollins (228) 313-1480 or Tim Bruni (228) 669-1008 as soon as possible and prior to May 29.  Some teams will be having a make up try out on Tuesday, May 26 at 6 p.m. at the Gulfport Sportsplex.  Rosters will be named the first week of June and players who are selected for teams will be contacted by coaches to be made aware of their selections.

15th Annual International Soccer Clinic June 1-5

International-Soccer-Clinic-300x217Hi Parents, I hope the rec. season is going well. A few of our coaches and me have had a chance to walk around at County Farm and watch a lot of our academy kids playing in games. We are very impressed with their development!!!

I would like to thank a lot of you for registering your child early for this summer’s 15th Annual International Soccer Clinic USA.  I have attached an application with more information about the clinic and registration. Our website, has more information on it and also has a link to sign up with a credit card. This will be the easiest way to register. We had 291 kids participate at this year’s fall academy but we have to cut off our summer clinic at 200 this year. We have got some incredible new coaches coming this year as well as the majority of coaches coming back from last year. We have got an excellent curriculum lined up to improve your child’s skills as well as them having a lot of fun. If you were impressed with the academy you will be extremely impressed with our summer clinic as they learn even more. Our coach to child ratio is 1-10. This allows for individualized attention for your kids.

We would love to have this clinic filled before the end of April. If you have not registered and wish to hold a clinic spot then feel free to register online or send in the application attached with a deposit or paid in full amount. Each child will be given a ball and a t-shirt when arriving at the clinic. The clinic will be held at the Gulfport Sportsplex on June 1st through the 5th.

We are also giving away one clinic a month to a lucky facebook winner starting in March and ending in May. To be in the drawing you have to like our facebook page and share it with others. Here is our facebook page:

If you are a facebook winner and have paid already, a refund will be sent back to you. We would love it if you would also share this email with other soccer parents.

I will check back with y’all each month until the clinic.        CLICK HERE FOR THE CLINIC FLYER
