FC United Player Receives invite to National Training in Atlanta

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) –  32 youngsters from South Mississippi are participating in a three-day soccer camp.One of the soccer players, 16-year-old Krey Easterling a junior at Biloxi High School ,caught the eye ofU.S. Soccer National staff coach Juan Carlos Michia.He’s a guest at the camp on behalf of local FC United coach, Tony Schibeci.”Every year Fredy Clavijo and I hold a soccer camp and pretty much to identify the players that are on the coast who want to move up to the next level and have the talent that it takes to play up,”stated Schibeci.Coach Michia travels throughout the United States searching for talent, young players who have the ability to one day play for the USA soccer team or play professional soccer.Michia said,”We have training centers all over the country the last four or five years. We get them together and we evaluate them. See if they have a chance for the next level.”Krey Easterling was singled out at the camp. He’s been invited to one of the national training centers.”He told me he wants me to come to Atlanta and go to the Academy and practice,” said Easterling. “I guess with the National team. He wants to see me, how I play with the big boys.”Easterling’s father, Anthony, said Krey was raised in Germany and he started playing soccer for 12 years.”We’ve been working on this ever since he was 4-years-old,”said Anthony. “That’s his dream to be a professional soccer player and if he gets that chance that would be great.”Juan Carlos Michia believes Easterling has the talent to advance to the next level.”Good left football. Good technique. Plus, all the stuff like, he has a good attitude during the game and that’s what we need,”stated Michia.He said it’s not going to happen overnight but say Easterling is on the national radar for developing soccer talent.

FC United Coach Gets Player to Italy

Sports News -Tony Schibeci, FC United soccer coach, soccer scout and director of coaching for Pearl River Futbol, has landed a deal with one of the top clubs in Italy to showcase James Pipper, a soccer player from Picayune, Mississippi.

Pipper, who leaves for Italy in July, will meet with the Genova Calcio Club to play along the side with top soccer athletes from around the world, looking for a chance to get drafted.

As one of the top players in South Missippippi, Pipper will have the chance to play in front of many soccer scouts and general managers in hopes of landing a contract outside of the USA.

McGee Signs Scholarship

Pass Christian senior Devin McGee has signed a soccer scholarship with Southern Miss. She joins Breann Hedin of Long Beach, a teammate on the Bruni Select Soccer Team, as a Southern Miss soccer signee.

McGee played for coach Marco Mthembu at Pass Christian. She was six-year letterman, earned All-State honors in 2012 and 2013, and was a member of the Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Soccer Team in 2012.

She was selected to the 2013 Mississippi Association of Coaches South State All-Star team along with Hedin. McGee led Pass Christian in goal scoring for four consecutive seasons.

She was a center midfielder and center defender for Pass Christian, and is projected as a left defender at Southern Miss.

South Alabama, North Florida, UT-Martin and Jacksonville State were among the teams recruiting her in soccer, and she also was recruited in track. She competes in the 800-meter run and the 4×400 relay for Pass Christian.

McGee and Hedin have been teammates in select soccer for the Bruni teams since U-11 days, and they won three state championships in select soccer.

SMSC Receives State Award from MSA

In recognition of its outstanding performance and complete service offered to youth soccer in South Ms, MSA has again awarded the 100 percent club award to South Ms Soccer Club.

Congratulations Coach of the Year


SMSC is proud to announce two of its very own have won top honors in the State.  Coach Kendall Carraway was chosen as the southern district coach of the year and Nick Goyette was chosen as the male youth referee of the year.  Congratulations guys.  We certainly appreciate all that you do.

Another Championship

Team Pressure once again brought home the championship after a thrilling last minute goal in the finals of the U12 Girls division of the Gulf Coast Academy Classic.  Congratulations on another job well done!

FC United Teams Bring Home Championships

The FC United U12 girls (Team Pressure) and FC United U9 Girls (Quickshots) both won the Gobbler Cup Tournament in Houma, LA this past weekend.  Team Pressure had to beat the #1 team in Louisiana to take home the championship. The U9 Quickshots played tough soccer in the U10 Division only allowing one goal against them during the tournament in the final game.  Congratulations teams!

Congratulations on the Crossroads Tournament

Congratulations goes out to Coach Chuck Rollins U10 FC United Boys All Stars and Coach Russ Carothers U9 FC United Girls All Stars for reaching the finals in the Crossroads of the South Tournament in Jackson, MS during the weekend of October 29. Both teams went undeafeated going into the finals only to lose out by one goal in the last few minutes of each of their games. It was a tough loss but both teams did a fantastic job against some tough competition.  Great job All Stars!
